Frequently asked questions

Apple Pay is an Apple service allowing the cardholder to digitalize their card and use such digitalized card to initiate and execute card-based payment transactions via a smart device at stores accepting Mastercard, which makes available to Zagrebačka banka’s customers another contactless or online payment channel using a selected Apple device and a quick, easy and secure way of conducting payment transactions.

The service uses NFC contactless payment technology.

The customer must set a mobile device screen unlocking option in their mobile device’s settings by using: a password, a specimen, a fingerprint or a face scan. If no security verification is set to unlock the mobile device, no card can be added to mobile device.

You can enable Apple Pay on a mobile phone using an iOS operating system, version 15 or later. To use an Apple Watch, it must use watchOS 3.0 or later.

Apple Pay is available for all individual and corporate cards of Zagrebačka banka.

Yes. A customer can add their card to Apple Wallet on several mobile devices. When registering a payment card in a mobile device, it will be tokenized (the card number will be replaced with a unique identification element – a token), which further enhances the security of the whole service. Apple allows digitalized cards to be stored on up to 10 different devices.

If iOS 17 or later is used, the number of cards you can add to your Apple Wallet is unlimited. You can designate a primary (default) card in your Apple Wallet card settings.

No, the PIN linked to the physical card should never be used as an authentication method when making a payment via Apple Pay. Apple Pay payments are always authenticated using a preset mobile device screen unlocking option (password, specimen, fingerprint or face scan). The PIN is only used to withdraw cash using your digitalized Apple Wallet card.

The Apple Wallet card is automatically blocked. To use Apple Pay again, the end user will need to enable the security verifications to unlock the device, and all Apple Wallet cards will be automatically unblocked.

Yes, because all payment card data are tokenized and the token is unique to the device and cannot be linked to the actual payment card data. The actual payment card data are never transmitted as part of a payment transaction, which serves to prevent fraud or abuse.

If their Apple Pay device is lost, stolen or abused, the cardholder must promptly notify the Bank of such loss, theft or abuse of an electronic device in which the digital wallet app is installed including the registered digitalized card, as well as any actual or suspected situation where the password or specimen used to unlock the screen of the device has become available to an unauthorized person or a situation where an unauthorized person has gained access to a digital wallet or an electronic device in which the digital wallet app is installed.
